Poppies At Play Parade Of Homes

Today I'm participating in the Parade of Homes tour sponsored by Andrea from the blog Poppies At Play!

My home is number 17 on the tour...

...and let me begin by saying it has been so much fun to review these photos and see how much has been accomplished since moving in not quite three years ago! Our family feels blessed to live here and I have gotten a lot of joy from the process of turning this house into a home that reflects each of us. Yes, I've gradually learned to listen to my family's design wishes as well as my own!

The first major project that I tackled was our family room and adjoining kitchen.

The project included extending the hardwood flooring, removing the original mantel and tile and working with a craftsman to design a mantel better suited to the scale of the room. Then everything was painted, gotta love the power of paint! To see all the details of this redesign click here.

Again, the miracle of paint! Our kitchen was transformed into a space I'm thrilled with by painting the cabinetry, island, walls and replacing the backsplash. To see all the steps taken in this redesign visit these posts.

Then it was on to Isabella's room. We had a lot of fun working on this room together over one summer.

This room design included a very long list of DIY projects which transformed it from blah to a girl's dream bedroom. All the details and tutorials can be seen in these posts.

Then the big man of the house requested his space be next! So the home office stopped being a room to store random items of home decor until they could find their spot in the house, to a space where my husband enjoys catching up on reading and a bit of work.

His favorite parts of the room are the chalkboard/art wall featuring his prints and photographs, and the repurposed Hoosier cabinet that once sat in my grandfather's wood shop. To see details on the projects and items used in this design click here.

By this point someone in the house was a little out of joint. "When is it time for MY ROOM?!" That would be Max. He had a lot of ideas for his room and I began by interviewing him about his likes and dislikes. He had a lot to say, and interestingly, reading the interview and looking at the final result, his wishes came true!

Then it was on to the master bedroom. This design began with the upholstered wall project I did for an HGTV.com tutorial and the rest of the room flowed from there, again through a long list of DIY projects. To see the entire lineup visit these posts.

And to make a full circle, we're back to one of the first rooms I worked on after moving into the house, and it remains one of my favorites! The master bathroom.

Can you guess, lots of DIY projects here too! For details read these posts...and that is the end of my tour.
