An inspiration!

Being a fan of Dream House which airs on hgtv, (I get to live out my personal dream of building a home by watching this show), I was truly blown away by the final product of the series lastest home. So much so that I googled the builder and discovered www.magnoliacustomhomes.com. If you love detailed woodwork, attention to finishing touches, beautiful lighting and (the character of) older homes, you'll enjoy seeing Carmin's home and the other homes she has built since the show. If I didn't live a couple of thousand miles away from the Chicago area I'd be on this woman's doorstep begging to work with her! Great job Carmin and here's to continued success in going beyond the ordinary.

Janell Beals Displays Her Daughter's Art on Oprah.com

Janell Beals Displays Her Daughter's Art
I was thrilled to see this on Oprah.com this past week: Janell hangs her daughter Isabella's artwork around the house—but uses more than pushpins to do so. By considering how the colors in a given drawing play against the colors of a room's walls, furniture and draperies, Janell treats every piece the way she would "serious" art. She also uses white frames throughout the house, "to make the art pop," she says, and to create continuity from room to room.

I can't wait to design a room around this chandelier.

Check out the beautiful lighting by Maura Daniel, at www.mauradaniel.com. I learned about this designer, based in California, when a friend chose to use Maura's chandeliers in a new boutique she is opening. I personally adore the Elizabeth 5 light chandelier with black crystals. I would love to use it in a girls bedroom paired with pale pink and cream.

My design idea is going to be in O at Home magazine!

Look for the Winter issue of the O at Home magazine hitting stands sometime after November 20th. I am so excited to have one of my design ideas and daughter's artwork included in this issue.

A wonderful find

My favorite pillow at the moment is by Thomas Paul, called "Robin" in a beautiful pale yellow and white linen. It can be found at this designers website, http://www.thomaspaul.com/

Even if you are not in the market for any home accessories it is a treat to visit this gorgeous and whimsical website!
