I have to admit, a slightly odd mix of items are being brought into the redesigned living room...the Steelmaster Cabinet and now this pedestal table. Will an eclectic mix emerge or a random hodgepodge of this and that? To help the elements work successfully together a limited the color palette is being used, with many of the pieces being refinished with the same ivory color.
The table is another piece brought to me by my Dad, and it was not in great shape. As I started working on it I called to confirm where it had come from, after my last experience with a gift from him! No, not from a dumpster this time.
Sanding, priming, painting and detailing on the claw feet take care of its worn state. And yes, I had to find somewhere to use Rub 'n Buff at least ONCE in this room!
The main purpose of the table is to hold a lamp, the room needs more light. This lamp had been sitting on the floor of my husband's office since we moved in. There wasn't a place for it in our new family room (along with its pair and the coordinating floor lamp), but knew I could use it somewhere at some point in this house.
Next, selecting the right lamp shade. I need to hold a swap meet...as you can see I have a selection of shades on hand, as well as harps in various heights. (Harp height is KEY. Lamps usually look best when the bottom line of the shade hits the base just as the stem begins. This can be achieved simply by adjusting the harp height.)
The ivory shade wins out over the gray shantung, which I now would like to part with! (I have Two Medium, One Large.) Anyone in need of some lamp shades?
Next, as unbelievable as it may seem there is more Heirloom White to come. The last for this space, I promise.
