This One May Require Some Faith & Vision

I've decided to add a bench to the seating mix at the dining room table. The kids love this idea, and balanced by chairs at the ends and along the other side I think it will work!

Soon after beginning my search for a bench I found that upholstered benches can be very expensive, a few styles that caught my eye exceeding the cost of the table! The second issue I encountered was finding a bench long enough, wanting a style at least 60 inches long.

So, when I finally stumbled across this 64 inch bench at a great price on Overstock.com, I was beaten down and decided I could make something of it with a little effort.

First, I'm not loving the abundance of tufting. Nor the leather, which is not real. So yes, I'll be covering it. I'll probably add a sheet of foam and then there is the question of what fabric to use.

I've been a big fan of Slubby Basket from Calico Corners for many of my projects, which comes in a wide range of colors. This could be one direction to take.

Or do I go with the same material used for the slipcovers: the indestructible drop cloth?

There is also the question of what the leg stain will look like in person. And should I need to replace the nail head trim in the process, I'd love to use this chunky style found for the DIY Canvas Art project. Certainly a few variables involved, but that is the plan.

What do you think...do you share my vision?!
