Bold and beautiful wallpapers are making a comeback in a huge way. Despite this, many homeowners are hesitant to commit to covering their walls with wallpaper. Some of the concerns include the expense, the difficulty of removing the paper down the road, and the challenge of selecting the right design for the space. For these very reasons, wallpapering a powder bath is a great place to start as it is typically the smallest room in the house!
Powder bathrooms can also be approached in a slightly different design direction than other areas of the home. They present an opportunity to be more creative and adventureous than in a larger or more open room. After selecting the wallpaper design, unique lighting, mirrors, vanities and hardware can build on its style to create a jewel of a room.
I thought this was the perfect image to start an Ideabook on wallpapering powder bathrooms. You simply can not go wrong by using a bold trellis wallpaper in this space. A simple venetian inspired mirror and classic vanity complete the really quite simple but dramatic design.
What a completely cheerful powder bathroom! The colorful floral wallpaper is hung above tile wainscoting, a very smart choice. Not only does the tile prevent the walls from being completely covered with a print that could become overwhelming, but any splashes from the sink will hit the tile and not the wallpaper. This is certainly something to consider when deciding to use wallpaper in a bathroom, particularly ones that will be used by children.
This is one of the most stunning bathrooms I have seen. The grasscloth has a rich silver tone that is repeated in the unique mirror, light fixtures, hammered metal sink and the absolutely stunning stone on the vanity. The perfect finishing touch is the addition of a brilliant magenta orchid.
