When I first started blogging, it was all about sharing my home renovations.
I started Our Extreme Home Makeover Experience to document what was transpiring on my home for a great group of folks that helped me for a good year.
After the renos were complete, Funky Junk was created in order to share what strange and wonderful things lived inside my head. Junk was my game because I couldn't afford anything else. It pretty much had to be free or nothing.
Both blogs proved to be the perfect outlet for a yakker like me. :)
But I had no idea about the passion that would ultimately take over. Working with absolutely nothing and making it something turned into the driving force that furnished my home and lit my fire.
Seems I had a ways to go though. I really had to hone a few blogging skills in order to make it all click. You know what it takes... time, photography, blogging know how, interesting projects.. and time.
And here we are. Talking about money.
Most of us need funds so I'm happy to say if you're in that same boat, there are opportunities to earn income while you happily blog away. But it isn't as easy as it sounds. And sadly, not everyone will be successful at this. Especially right away.
numbers play a part...
Regardless of which route you choose to fund your blog habit, there's one thing that's important in order for most online money making methods to be effective. You need numbers. In other words, you need to take the time to grow your blog and have others find you and fully appreciate what you have to offer.
So many want to make money right away. But if you're blogging just for the money, you're going to be very disappointed with the results. Proving what you can do needs to come first.

...but it's really about passion
In order to make it online or otherwise, you'll only be happy with your choice if you're truly passionate about your given niche. And I mean to the point of not even thinking about money while you practice it.
because...
In order to make $, you need customers.
You'll only get customers if they want what you offer.
And they'll only want what you offer if you do it to the VERY BEST of your abilities.
And you'll only pull out your VERY BEST if you're totally head over heels in love with what you do.
Because in order to pull out the best that you have, you'll need to push yourself beyond limits and overcome fears you had no idea even existed.
But you won't mind. Because you're so passionate about it all, you'd do it for free anyway. :)

Love what you do, do it well, be noticed and the rest will come.
I promise.
'Nuff said. Let's get to work.
