Guest Blogger: Lakeitha From Home To Three Duncan Boys

Here is my first ever guest blogger while I am enjoying quick visit to one of my all time favorite cities, Chicago. Please welcome Lakeitha, from Home To Three Duncan Boys. I really enjoy her "tell like it is" style of writing on her blog, as she balances being her own person, a wife, a mom raising three boys while making her house a home. Visit her blog here if you haven't done so already!

Hi everyone! When Janell asked if I would like to do a post on her blog my first thought was, "Are you kidding me?! Sure I would!" I love Janell AND her blog! It is actually the first blog that I discovered and she is the reason why I started my own blog!

Today I'm going to talk about one of my favorite hobbies: thrifting! To me, thrifting consists of going to Goodwill and other second hand stores, searching Craigslist, yard sales and estate sales. I love the idea of finding great pieces with tons of potential and turning them into something fabulous!

For instance, here are a few of my finds that have been given new life, or are well on their way...

My headboard that I found on Craigslist for $35.

I took it from the original walnut finish and painted it with Rust-Oleum's Heirloom White. Now it looks great against the chocolate brown walls in my bedroom!

Then you have this french dresser that I found for $50 (seriously) that wasn't in bad shape, but I wanted it to be a little more "fun". So I painted it turquoise, which is very unexpected for a vintage piece.

I know all of you hit the floor, like I did, when you saw the transformation of Janell's slipper chairs, right?

Well, imagine my surprise when I went into one of my Goodwill stores and found the exact chairs for $25 each!

I have BIG plans for these babies ;)

Oh, and one last thing, check out this small chest of drawers that I found for $30, and it was already painted!

Wouldn't it look nice in a bathroom, kind of like Janell used in her powder room?!

Now tell me, have you been thrifting lately?! If so, what did you find? And if not, what are you waiting for?!

Thanks again Janell for giving me the chance to talk about one of my favorite topics!

Thanks Lakeitha! Isn't it just stunning what great finds are out there to grab? All it takes is a bit of vision to see past its current state to the possibilities of what the piece can become.
