I have been working with some delightful clients, a young family, who just happen to live a couple states over from me. Below are the steps taken so far in designing their main living areas.
First, photos of the bare space from which two furniture plans were developed.
After the couple chose the layout that works best for their lifestyle, with the goal of maximizing seating, we moved on to selecting furniture.
Having difficulty visualizing the suggested furniture in the living room, an elevation was sketched with the styles in place. Now they could see exactly how the pieces being considered would look in the room, prior to committing to this investment.
After viewing the sketch the pieces were ordered with confidence. The major pieces are now in place, (with the exception of the coffee table, which could be refinished but still too small) and the project is currently at the stage shown below.
It is now time to move on to all the other decisions. Window treatments, table lamps, an area rug and runner, dining room fixture and chairs, accessories and paint colors. Again, having the suggestions placed in the room shows the clients how each possibility will look prior to making a commitment.
The couple have just started to review the design boards. I know they would be very interested in hearing your opinion about what you do or don't like...and what you would possibly do differently with these spaces...as they get ready to take the next steps.
